Small quilt for Alliance for American Quilts

May 10, 2012

This small, 15 inch square, quilt was my entry in the 2011 contest for the www.AllianceforAmericanQuilts.org

The theme was people, passions and patterns -How could I not enter?

I built this quilt top in Egypt, one week after Mubarak was ousted. I purchased a red, white and black jersey knit Egyptian flag from a man running beside our taxi in a traffic jam. I inserted photos that I took for every other pyramid. The back of the quilt has a t-shirt purchased in Tahrir Square.

I have an idea for this years theme: “Home is Where the Quilt Is”  Why don’t you join me in entering. Entry and quilt must be postmarked by June 1st, 2012. I have about 20 days to get it made...as it is only an idea at this point in time. See their web site for details.
